Make this recipe for Croque Monsieur – a delicious, cheesy baked treat

6 slices of bread
4 cups of Béchamel sauce (you can make your own if you prefer)
1 tablespoon mustard
200g of Swiss cheese
8 slices of smoked ham
melted butter

How to
In a bowl, mix the Béchamel sauce with mustard and a sprinkling of nutmeg.

Put the bread slices in a baking dish, spread the sauce over them then add the cheese and ham.

Close the sandwich and brush the surface with melted butter and finally add a bit of bechamel and cheese. Bake at 390F/200C for about 20 minutes, until the cheese is melted.

If you want to make Croque Madame all you have to do is add a fried egg on top of the cheese.
