Recipe for homemade beef Burgers made with Angostura Bitters

900 grams ground beef
1 large egg
1/2 cup dried breadcrumbs
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1/3 cup milk
2 tablespoons chopped celery
2 tablespoons chopped onion
2 tablespoons chopped green pepper
1 tablespoon lemon juice
3 teaspoons Angostura aromatic bitters
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

How to
Place ground beef in a large bowl.

In a smaller bowl mix together breadcrumbs, celery, onion, green pepper, thyme, salt and pepper.

Sprinkle over meat in two batches, cutting into meat with the side of a large spoon.

In a small bowl whisk together milk, egg, lemon juice and 2 teaspoons Angostura aromatic bitters.

Gradually fold into meat mixture. Grill hamburgers until cooked as desired, roughly 4 – 5 minutes per side on medium-high heat.

For the burger sauce, stir together 1/2 cup tomato sauce and 1 teaspoon Angostura aromatic bitters.
