Why picnics make the perfect date

Movies, restaurant dates and activities like skating and cycling make great dates too, but picnics come out heads and shoulders above all of them because they minimize all the distraction and give your chemistry the room to fire up of fizzle out. 

Pick a tranquil spot and connect with your date through face to face conversation (which we really get too little of), simple games like board games and cards and good food. 

A platter allows you to pick at the food and graze while you talk and enjoy your food just as much as you enjoy each other’s company 

Artisan’s Platter – Baked Camembert with Sticky Onion Jam Recipe

A beautiful platter overflowing with indulgent, delicious treats that offer

something for everyone. A Mediterranean-inspired feast that includes oven-baked Camembert, fresh bread, charcuterie, olives, homemade sticky

onion jam and lots more, perfect for enjoying alongside a lovely glass of fizz.


  • For the Jam
  • 3 medium red onions, diced
  • 2 Tbsp butter + 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 x whole round camembert wrapped in baking paper

How to

  • Pre-heat oven to 200C
  • Heat the butter and olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat, add-in
  • the remaining ingredients, reduce the heat to low and leave the onions to
  • cook until sticky and golden and caramelised, about 20-30 minutes
  • Meanwhile, bake the camembert in the oven for 10-15 minutes or until soft

Additional elements of your preference such as fresh bread, charcuterie,
