Recipe for Mulled Wine, great for winter evenings – made with cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and Claret

Ingredients
2litre Culemborg Claret (any red wine will do!) (1 x 750 mls)
1 1/2 cups sugar (1 third cup sugar)
1 cup Van Der Hum (1 third cup)
1 cup brandy (1/2 cup)
1 1/4 litres boiling water (375mls)
3 sliced oranges, without skins (I oranges)
8 cloves (4 cloves)
3 or 4 sticks cinnamon ( 1 stick)
1 teaspoon nutmeg (1/2 teaspoon)

How to
Pour wine into saucepan

Add sugar, cloves,cinnamon & oranges.

Bring nearly to the boil, or mocrowave on high for 8 minutes

Add boiling water, Van Der Hum & brandy. Stir

Add nutmeg

Keep warm in a crockpot set on auto or low.
