Craving something deep fried? These Apple Spring Rolls are delightfully crispy sweet treats
4 granny smith apples
1 cup light brown sugar
8 sheets spring roll wrapper
oil for frying
Peel, core apples. Slice thinly. Divide into 8 equal parts.
Place one part onto center of spring roll wrapper. Sprinkle with approx 1 tbs brown sugar (or more if required). Roll (like spring rolls).
Repeat with the rest and set aside.
Heat cooking oil on high.
When hot enough, fry apple rolls quickly (abougt 3 minutes each side) until light brown. Drain on paper towels or rack.
You can replace the brown sugar with cinnamon or vanilla sugar if you prefer. You can also dust them with cinnamon sugar straight after frying.
