Summer time isn’t always as relaxing and fun as we thought it’d be. With summer comes insects and as much as you’d like to lie outside under a moonlit sky watching the stars, those pesky little mosquitoes want dinner to be served with your blood as the main course!

1. Lemon juice, mineral oil and minced garlic – Simply cover a few cloves of minced garlic in mineral oil and allow to sit for not less than 24 hours. Separate the garlic from the oil and mix the oil with 2 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Pour into a spray bottle and shake before each use!

2. Tea tree oil, lemon juice and water – Add 20 drops of the tea tree oil to each 60 ml of water. Add a bit of lemon juice and shake well in a spray bottle. Remember again to shake before each use.

3. Shea butter, coconut oil and beeswax – This handy balm will get rid of mosquitoes and leave your skin feeling great. Create a double boiler by heating a bit of water in a saucepan. Place a glass or metal dish inside the pan. Combine one tablespoon of beeswax, one tablespoon of shea butter as well as 20 drops of coconut oil in the dish. After all ingredients have melted together, pour into a container and let the mixture cool and harden until ready to use.
