The Pretoria Girls High School protest that took place at the end of August has really inspired a lot of people, especially celebrities

One of these celebrities is actress Sonia Sedibe, who came out and spoke about her natural hair habits, and how much she could relate to the high-school pupils who were protesting.

Sonia lent her voice to the discussion when she appeared on Power FM towards the end of last week to talk about her own hair journey as a young woman in South Africa. Then she updated her Instagram followers with a post that revealed that she hadn’t relaxed her hair in over eight years!

This was me @powerfm987 this evening having an amazing #powerchat #powerlive with the ever gracious @ayandaalliep what was classic was when EVERYONE got shocked at the fact that I may have trademarked with my collection of “hats-wigs” but me revealing my rows and the fact that I haven’t “relaxed” my hair in over 8years left everyone perplexed!!! Just goes to show that, it’s until you meet the real person that you can then conclude…now that’s #power

Sonia Sedibe is not the only celebrity who was inspired to speak out following last week’s events

Former Miss South Africa, Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala revealed that she is finished with weaves and will now be rocking her natural hair wherever she goes.
