Pageant organisers announced the news this week. The Cash prize will be sponsored by Sun International and Cell C
Sun International PR manager, Claduia Henkel, says that they are excited knowing that this would be a first in the history of the pageant saying, “We are delighted that, for the first time in the history of the pageant, R1 million in cash will be given to the young woman who takes the title. This will change the winner’s life forever and enable her to accomplish whatever she wants to in life. We want to attract the best person for this most important role as a new ambassador for the country and this enables us to do so.”
Other prizes include a car, an international holiday and more prizes worth two million rands
Suzette van der Merwe, who is the Executive: Commercial Communications for Cell C says that the company’s strategy to empower women goes hand in hand with the Miss South Africa brand saying, “The prize package for 2017 will allow the winner to fulfill all ambitions that she has.”
For the first time, the public will be able to view parts of auditions process of the pageant
Ntando Kunene, the current Miss SA 2016, will attend all the auditions as well.
The Miss South Africa 2017 search will run from 16 July until 27 August next year.
