An allergy is an adverse physical, physiological and/or psychological response of an individual towards one or more substances. Allergies are common today, and there is no known cure for this in Western medicine, but they can be cured with holistic therapies.

Allergies are abnormal immune system reactions to things that are typically harmless to most people. When you’re allergic to something, your immune system mistakenly believes that this substance is harmful to your body. The body then over reacts to certain substances like pollen, dust, medicines or foods like nuts, eggs, milk, chocolate. (Substances that cause allergic reactions are known as allergens.) In an attempt to protect the body, the immune system produces IgE antibodies to that allergen.

Treating your allergies

First, identify your allergens. Everyone has different allergic reactions to different allergens, so it is impossible to treat someoneâ??s allergy based on anotherâ??s reaction. For this reason, it is imperative that you identify which allergen you have a reaction to. You can accomplish this through the process of elimination. When you develop symptoms of allergy, try to think of the immediate things around you that could have triggered it.

Some natural allergy relievers

Kapalbhati – (A simple breathing exercise to be done before eating)  Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. The stomach will contract in. The breathing in (through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day. (Max 60 min/day) Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.

Ginger – Ginger is a good pain reliever and fights asthma. When you canâ??t stop coughing, it is good to drink hot ginger tea or hot water with ginger and honey, because ginger stimulates circulation and helps clear your sinuses and lungs of mucus.

Allergy injections – Allergy shots help the body in many ways. Allergy shots are also known as immunotherapy. They help you by building up a type of protective guard to specific allergens that eventually prevent the allergen from triggering symptoms when you are exposed.

Air purifiers – The air we breathe is filled with all sorts of impurities, such as pollen, grass, dirt, dust, pet hair and more. All of these things can bring on a severe attack if someone is allergic to them. That’s where the allergy air purifier comes in. The allergy air purifier will take whatever it is that you’re allergic to out of the air so that you never have another attack.

The importance of a balanced diet

Eat a balanced diet of fresh foods, and foods that are red, green, black, yellow and orange in colour every day. In Asia, it is believed that eating 30 kinds of foods a day can keep you healthy.

Avoid chemicals

Some cosmetics or laundry detergents can cause people to break out in an itchy rash (hives). Usually, this is because the person has a reaction to the chemicals in these products. Dyes, household cleaners, and pesticides used on lawns or plants can also cause allergic reactions in some people.
