They may not all suit you and your lifestyle well, but they will all help you to lose weight. Why? Because each of these diets does a few simple things right, they just package them differently.

However, diets should never offer a ‘one-size-fits-all’. No diet can work with everyone’s lifestyle, everyone’s allergies, everyone’s financial situation. You need to research and identify a diet that is going to work best for you in the place you are in right now. Don’t do the one your friends are doing just because it’s available.

1. They make you eat less

Some diets allow you to eat as much as you want of a certain type of food.

Although you may be eating a larger amount of food, you’re actually consuming fewer total calories because the specified foods are less calorie-dense.

If you’re not losing weight, but you think you’re following the diet correctly, keep a ‘food and drinks diary’ so that you can identify where you might be consuming hidden calories …

These could be in your drinks (which people often forget to count as calories) and even in the milk, or added sugar you have in your cereal/smoothies/coffee.
