• Even if you don’t have a large garden, invest in an old barrow from some sale yard, bring it home, along with a bag of compost and lots of tiny flowering plants. Plant them close to each other and you’ll have a rinky dink little portable garden.
  • When you have a braai, fill a barrow with ice and water to use as a good mobile way to keep cans and bottles cold.
  • If you don’t have an available braai, you can use a wheelbarrow – as long as it is metal. Pop in the charcoal bricks, add a few firelighters, put an oven rack over the top of the lot, and you will be A for away.
  • Watch your children having fun wheeling each other around, using their imaginative little minds, turning it into a chariot or rocket ship, etc.
  • Dogs often love being toted from one place to the other in a wheelbarrow. You can also use it as a dog’s bath or a bird’s sand or water bath.
  • You could even use it as a baby bed for him/her to snooze in the shade while you garden! Mind you, make sure the baby can’t crawl out!
