Budget-friendly and available all-year around, carrots are rich in antioxidants and antiseptics which protect your skin from bacteria and free radicals, leaving it looking younger and feeling softer. Try this DIY carrot face mask and see for yourself.

What you’ll need to make your carrot face mask

  • 2 medium-sized carrots (peeled, washed and chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil (whichever you prefer)
  • Half a lemon

Making your face mask

Steam the carrots until they’re soft and tender. Then mash the carrots into a smooth and creamy pulp. Stir in the honey and olive oil. Squeeze a little lemon juice into the mixture. If your skin is oily, you’ll need about a tablespoon but if it’s on the drier or sensitive side, exercise caution and use a few drops only.

Using the mask

Allow the mask to cool down until it is lukewarm. Then use a teaspoon to drop small amounts of the mixture onto your hands and gently massage into your skin for a few minutes. You’ll need to repeat this process three times then leave the mask on for a further five minutes. Rinse it off with warm water.

The ingredients will keep in the fridge for a few days so you can use the mask again. It’s gentle enough to use every second day.
