1. The beaches really ARE incredible
Plonk down on any seafront in Mauritius and you’ll feel like you’re sitting in a living Condé Nast poster or any other luxury beach break you’ve seen advertised anywhere ever. If you’re looking for seaside paradise then look no further than Mauritius
Follow miles of alabaster beach dotted with hotel bar and swimming pools, then head to Flic-en-Flac on the west of the island, where the many exclusive hotels give the ocean a manicured elegance.
For something a little more rugged, try the south shores with its shores of banks of grey pumice stones the size of ostrich eggs.
Our favourites were the hidden bays and coves we discovered in the less developed east coast, where it’s still possible to feel as though you are the only souls on the whole island
