In addition to their Style Squad duties and monthly activities, these two talented kids rose to the challenge and won the Style Squad Designer Range competition – a unique initiative that presented the 20 Style Squad bloggers with an opportunity to showcase their talent and fashion design skills.
As the victors, Bongz and #Jodi V were invited to spend a few days at Ackermans Head Office to get a behind-the-scenes look at the brand’s inner workings and learn what it takes to be a fashion designer in South Africa’s retail industry.
In collaboration with the experts, these young designers created an awesome summer range for boys and girls, which they showed off during a professional photo shoot.
Bongz’s collection for boys represents ‘urban swag’, which is influenced by his love of R&B music, Johannesburg’s vibrant city settings and township culture.

His range combines a mix of bulky zips, pleather finishes, check detail, metallic and bold graphic patterns on everything from tees, golfers, shorts and button-up shirts to clamdiggers and hoodies.
With a colour palette ranging from monochrome tones and blue shades to gold prints, Bongz’s collection depicts the City of Gold’s everyday street fashion and #JoziSwag with easy eKasi style.
#Jodi V’s range is ‘tropi-cool’ and inspired by the fresh vibe feeling of a chilled out beach day. With bright juicy colours, paradise prints and accents of gold, her collection is perfect for fashion-savvy girls.

She captures the essence of summer with her easy-to-wear pieces made from lightweight fabric – including open-back tops, high-waist shorts, pencil skirts and T-shirt dresses.
Judging by the way she combines island-florals, graphic prints and girly silhouettes, this trendy blogger’s collection packs a tropical punch.
“Oh what an experience,” shared #Jodi V. “Firstly a glimpse into the industry from behind the scenes, to the final products. I have learned that there are endless possibilities out there. If I believe and push beyond boundaries not even the sky is the limit.”
