I am not a ‘Madonna fan’, but I do enjoy her music from way back in the day. My first memory of a ‘Madonna song’ is from 1986/7 when my sister got married. I was about five years old and my sister’s first-dance song was Crazy For You by Madonna.

Being the youngest (by far!) of five children, I grew up with my teenage brothers and sisters always listening to music. To this day, I prefer music from the ’80s to the music of today. I never listen to MTV – it’s always VH1 for me. They play all the classics and I find myself saying or thinking, ‘Ah, I love this song’ every couple of minutes.

My all-time favourite Madonna songs are:

  • Papa Don’t Preach
  • Like A Virgin
  • True Blue
  • Material Girl
  • Crazy For You
  • Into The Groove

I’d be lying if I said I enjoyed any of her new music. I don’t. Like, really, really don’t! But, no matter what she does, one can’t take away the fact that she has made an enormous success of her life.
