Breast augmentation (boob job) is probably the most common cosmetic plastic surgery procedure. I mean, I bet that you know at least two women who have had the boobs done? Personally, I know of at least 10 – including my mother. And I know of many more who would love to have it done, they just can’t afford it. Plastic surgery of any kind is very, very expensive!

I had mine done 16 years ago. Back then, I think the total cost was around R11 500. Very affordable compared to what people are paying today (It was a big chunk of change back in 1999).

I went to the best plastic surgeon in the country and he is also internationally renowned for his reconstructive surgery on burn victims. These days, his fee is A LOT HIGHER – apparently in the R50 000 – R60 000 zone and people wait months on end just to see him – worth the wait and the price tag though – he is excellent at what he does. I have never thought about having my implants removed. If anything, I would have them re-done after I have had children. My mom on the other hand, says that if she could afford to have hers removed, she would.

Victoria Beckham has only recently admitted to having had her breasts enhanced and then having had the implants removed altogether. “I don’t have those anymore. I think I may have purchased them,” she joked in an interview for Allure Magazine as she browsed through older pictures of herself.
