Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said a 64-year-old woman allegedly killed her boyfriend on Tuesday.
“According to the information received, the suspect consulted with the traditional healer and requested him to give her something that could kill her boyfriend. It is alleged that the traditional healer told her that he did not have anything, but the suspect could come back some other time,” Moleko said.
“It is further alleged that the suspect returned back home and poisoned her boyfriend, but he did not die and eventually she burnt him to death. Afterwards, the suspect placed the boyfriend’s body inside a plastic bag and hid him inside the garage,” he said.
The accused informed the traditional healer that she had killed her boyfriend
Moleko said the accused informed the traditional healer that she had killed her boyfriend and needed transport to go and throw the deceased at the river.
“The traditional healer informed the police about the incident and the suspect was arrested. The deceased’s body was found inside the garage and a post-mortem still needs to be done. The name of the deceased is unknown as the suspect alleged that the deceased was from Namibia,” Moleko said.
The woman was expected to appear in the Orkney Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
