She was nabbed at the corner of Klein and Plein streets in the Johannesburg CBD following a joint operation by the Johannesburg Metro Police Department’s K9 unit, city patrollers and SAPS, said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnar.
“The baby is in a good condition and appears to be healthy and well looked after,” said Minnaar.
Meanwhile, the woman was transported back to KwaZulu-Natal.
She is expected to appear in court before the end of the week.
She faces a charge of child abduction.
