The mushroom diet

Celebs such as Katy Perry, Kelly Osborne and Holly Robinson Peete have all tried the ‘M Plan’ diet which basically involves replacing one of your normal meals with a mushroom-dominated meal every day.

You can eat as many mushrooms as you like, and any type of mushroom goes.

The theory of this diet is that the mushrooms will help you lose weight in problem areas only. Some people have taken this diet to the extreme of eating ONLY mushrooms – which is not the best idea…

While mushrooms are an excellent source of protein, fibre and nutrients, there is really no reason to suggest that they will promote weight loss from the waist, hips and thighs any more so than any other food.

So while there’s nothing wrong with eating more mushrooms, the premise of the ‘M plan’ may be quite flawed.

This is one you can semi-try at home

Eating more mushrooms is definitely a good idea as they are very good for you, and keep you feeling full on fewer calories than most other foods.

Add more mushrooms to your diet. Use them to replace the odd serving of starch or meat, but don’t follow a mushroom-only diet!
