No photographers were allowed in court when Thando Siyoli, 31, appeared in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court.
This is in contrast to the previous appearances of the two other suspects in the case, Jayde’s 28-year-old husband Christopher Panayiotou, and 30-year-old Sizwezakhe Vumazonke, earlier in the week, where photographers were allowed to take pictures.
Siyoli was Panayiotou’s bouncer
Siyoli, believed to have been a bouncer at Panayiotou’s Infinity Bar in Algoa Park, was arrested in Kwazakele early last week. It’s alleged the 31-year-old was paid R30,000 to find a hitman to kill Jayde.
He is believed to have turned state witness and apparently assisted police with a sting operation that led to the subsequent arrest of Christopher on Wednesday night last week.
During Siyoli’s brief appearance in court this morning, Brigadier Marinda Mills, Provincial Police Spokesperson, confirmed that the autopsy report of Jayde had been finalised. According to Mills, the report reveals that Jayde was not raped.
Siyoli’s next appearance has been scheduled for June 19, which coincides with the court date set for both Panayiotou and Vumazonke.
