1. Chocolate helps you stay slim
It sounds crazy but research has found that people who regularly eat chocolate are slimmer than those who avoid treating themselves to this delectable treat.
A study by the University of California found that regular chocolate eaters were not slimmer – they did not eat fewer calories or exercise more than those who consumed less chocolate.
Another study, by the University of Texas, found that drinking chocolate milk after long workouts may help you lose body fat and gain muscle.
2. Chocolate protects your heart
A study published in the British Medical Journal found that eating a few blocks of dark chocolate a day could reduce your risk of a heart attack or stroke. This is because dark chocolate, which contains at least 60% cocoa solids, is rich in flavonoids known to protect the heart.
3. Chocolate eases stress
We’ve been told that comfort eating is a bad idea but, we may have to rethink this! Research by the American Chemical Society found that eating just 40 grams of dark chocolate a day for two weeks reduces stress hormones significantly.
