Professional Lebanese TV anchor, Rima Karaki was interviewing an extremist cleric about the number of Christians joining the Islamic State terror group.
The interview with Dr Hani Al Seba’I took place on the weekend of International Woemn’s Day and took a turn for the worse when Dr Al Seba’I refused to answer Karaki’s questions. Eventually she was forced to shut down the interview after the cleric became verbally abusive.
Cleric insisted on going off topic
Dr Al Seba’I went off topic completely and rambled on about the history of Christians joining Islam. When Karaki politely informed him that there were time constraints and he needed to stick to the topic if they were going to get through the interview, Dr Al Seba’I became incensed.
“Listen, don’t cut me off. I will answer as I please. I will not answer the way you like, because I’m here to serve the idea in which I believe,” he shouted at Karaki. He told Karaki to shut up, after which she signalled to her crew to end the interview.
Dr Al Seba’I’s final words were, “It’s beneath me to be interviewed by you. You are a woman who …” before he was cut off.
Twitter followers worldwide commended the Lebanese interviewer for her professionalism in handling the extremist cleric.
