Connie Ferguson is mourning the death of her mother, Margaret Masilo, who passed away last week…

The veteran actress has travelled to Botswana with her husband and kids to join her family, announcing on Twitter last Friday that she was “Arriving in Botswana” and thanking all the “Tweethearts for your comforting messages. God Bless You All”.

She earlier in the day opened up about her sadness when she tweeted: “It doesn’t matter how old u r or how strong u think u r, NOTHING can prepare u 4 the loss of a parent!? RIP the most AWSOME woman in my life! My mother, my ANGEL…”

As a contestant on the current sixth season of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, the Daily Sun has confirmed that she will be absent from this week’s episode, quoting executive producer Kee- Leen Irving who said: “As this is the death of an immediate relative, we would definitely excuse Connie this week. She’s indicated that she would like to be back for the following week’s show.

“Connie is understandably distraught. The last time she saw her mum was when she came from Botswana for the first episode of Strictly Come Dancing. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family during this sad time.”

Mostly known for her long-standing role as Karabo Moroka in ‘Generations’, Connie left the soapie in 2010 and now plays Mavis Mabaso in drama series ‘Rockville’, which she also produced with husband Shona.
