Viagra has been widely available since 1998, but when its patent expires, other alternatives to the drug may become available…
The chemical name for Viagra is sildenafil, and according to IOL the alternatives to the drug may be using this name.
Cost of drug
It was reported that the drug may be available for approximately R10 per pill, although there has been no confirmation as yet.
According to IOL, The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency has given licences for sildenafil products to 19 companies, in the hope of a reduction in the drug price, which will hopefully tackle the black market for potentially dangerous Viagra imitators. These companies include those from India, South Africa, Germany and Greece.

Illegal medication
Last year, the agency closed approximately 18 000 websites that were guilty of selling illegal medication.
Always consult your doctor before purchasing or taking any medication.
