South Africa remains on the “red-list” of many countries. The tourism industry recently proposed that tourism workers should be prioritised for the vaccine. This has been welcomed by government, offering hope for a revival of the industry.

Once frontline tourism workers are vaccinated, the next to be vaccinated could include hotel staff, tour guide operators, sightseeing officials.


The National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC) has approved that tourism sector frontline workers should be prioritised for vaccinations, Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) CEO, Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa, said the issue has been finalised, all that is left now is “how and when” it will be rolled out.
