A loving mom of five who suffered a four-limb amputation in 2017 is hopeful she will be able to wrap her arms around her kids again soon with the help of bionic arms…
51-year-old Sue Neill from of West Wittering, Chichester, West Sussex in the UK was the victim of blood poisoning. She spent weeks in an intensive care after being diagnosed with a life-threatening case of sepsis.
The infection got so bad she had to have all four of her limbs amputated, sadly her lips, nose and tongue were also severely affected.
Fund raiser to help Neill towards her goal of getting bionic arms
With the help of her cousin who has been described as “a sister” Neill’s wish of putting her arms all the way around her little girl will be fulfilled as she is receiving bionic arms to assist in her daily life.
A GoFundMe page has also been set up to track her progress and contribute to her cause.
A small “nick” on the gum at a dentist appointment is where it all began
The nick got infected but wasn’t taken too seriously, Neill treated it with painkillers and antibiotics but the pain became unbearable. A few weeks later she was found unconscious by her husband – and they realised it was a lot worse than they thought. She was rushed to hospital and diagnosed with sepsis.
Neill says sepsis changed her life, but she knows she can’t just sit in a “chair forever” she has to find a way to move on.
“It sort of took away everything it could take except my voice,’’ says a teary Neill.
