She fell from the tenth floor of a CT hotel

The general manager of Pepper Club Hotel in Cape Town confirmed the news when he told reporters that the incident took place before 8am on Sunday morning

“The case is under investigation. It’s a young woman, age 22 and at this stage police are  investigating. We will tell you once we have more information,” said Efia Ella.

According to paramedics, Nelli was found alive, but tragically died on scene due to her extensive injuries.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said; “When paramedics arrived on the scene, she had sustained polytraumatic injuries.

“She was in a critical condition and they started a full life-support resuscitation. Unfortunately, her injuries were too severe and she was declared deceased.”

Police are currently investigating her death and are ‘looking for clues’.

According to reports, she suffered from depression

Sunday World has reported that the rapper had tried to get her help through counselling.

There are also unconfirmed reports that she unsuccessfully attempted to end her life last year after pics and video clips on top of the Hilton hotel have now gone viral.

Her final moments

In the lead up to her untimely death, AKA and Nellie visited a number of Cape Town hot spots including an eatery with a beautiful backdrop of Table Mountain. Later she would fit in a spot of shopping at a MaXhosa Africa shop, where fans assumed the couple were shopping for their traditional wedding.

Later that evening, AKA would perform at two events in the Mother City, accompanied by his fiance. Pics and videos on social media show her dancing and having a fun time

Days earlier, Nelli & AKA had spent their Easter weekend in KZN with her family…

She was notoriously private

Little was known about the young woman who hailed from KZN, apart from her father being businessman Moses Tembe and her older sister, actress Nondumiso Tembe.

Her Instagram account was set to private and she had less than 10 000 followers in stark contrast to her fiance’s almost 3 million followers.

Although she modelled his official merchandise, AKA claimed Nelli refused to appear in any of his music videos because she was “very private”.

She had run-ins with nasty trolls

Nelli had more than her fair share of cyberbullying, after she announced her engagement to AKA. Nasty trolls took aim at the young woman, claiming she would suffer the ‘same fate’ as AKA’s other exes, celebrities DJ Zinhle and Bonang Matheba.

But Nelli clapped back at the time with a pic of her engagement ring on her IG stories; “LOL you hunnies sayin it will all end in tears. Learn a thing or two because JOKES on you lovies for being f****** trolls”.

She was the inspiration behind some of his songs – and even rapped on one!

Nelli was first mentioned in AKA’s hit song Cross My Heart which he dedicated to her.

He rapped; “”…I been thinking ’bout you for twenty one days, it’s kind ironic 21 is your age…”

In 2020 song Finessin’, AKA referred to Nelli as a ‘lioness’ and rapped about their love and relationship.

Interestingly, Nelli is also heard rapping in the intro of the song!

She was on her way to becoming a ‘makoti’

It’s sad to think that just a few weeks ago, the couple were celebrating their successful lobola negotiations after AKA and his male relatives visited Nelli’s home in KZN.

Instead of a wedding, the rapper will sadly be attending his fiancée’s funeral instead.
