The data price battle continues with Vodacom currently coming in first.
In a bid to reduce the cost to communicate and connect, Vodacom has substantially dropped its data prices.
The network provider announced that as of 1 April, some 30-day bundles have been reduced by as much as 14% with the popular 1GB 30-day bundle coming in R85 as opposed to its former price of R99. The network provider has vowed their commitment to affordable connectivity by also giving customers more value with 33% more data in various 30 day bundles.
- They have also re-introduced the 2GB bundle at R159.
- Other 30- day bundles such as the 50MB, 3GB, 5GB, 10GB and 20GB 30-day bundles will remain unchanged.
The move comes after the Competition Commission ruled last year that data prices in South Africa were too high and pushed service providers into making some big changes to their prices.
The ruling saw the likes of Vodacom, Telkom, Cell C and MTN adjusting prices
Here’s how they currently compare:
|Service Provider||Price per 1GB anytime mobile data|
|CELL C||R95 (you get 2GB for one with their current double data promo)|
Many operators offer various promotions as well as off-peak promotions and free gigs with certain types of bundles, the table represents the standard 1GB anytime bundle
