Miss South Africa organisers have responded to a tweet from pageant winner Shudufhadzo Musida which blew up on the Twitter timeline

Shudu, as she is popularly known has become the victim of nasty Twitter trolls after revealing her ambition to one day become president of the country.

The 24-year-old on Wednesday evening tweeted “I want to be president” in a post that went viral.

Shudu’s post was met with an overwhelming backlash from tweeps who shot down her dreams with mean tweets.

“President of bikini bodies?” tweeted one critic, whilst another added; “Focus on walking around naked. Stay in your lane”

Some even compared her to her predecessor Zozibini Tunzi…

On the flipside, a number of tweeps defended the Venda beauty queen…

They even pledged to vote for her…

Following the backlash, which saw Shudu and Miss SA dominate the Twitter trends, organisers have spoken out in a bid to calm the social media storm

The official Miss SA Twitter account posted; “We believe that the ability to succeed in the face of adversity, while staying true to ideals and principles of a better society gives birth to greatness.

“We believe that when women face their power and embrace their future they can take on any position and succeed!

The account went on to state that Shudu’s ambitions were also valid.

“#YourDreamsAreValid We all have dreams within us and may we take courage today to pursue them and take up space!”

We couldn’t agree more with their sentiments!
