How to find out if you have hair shedding or hair loss

The ‘pull test’

A pull test helps you determine if you are losing too much hair. According to healthline.com, you can perform this test at home to find out if you are experiencing hair loss or hair shedding.

Run your fingers through a small area of clean, dry hair and tug gently once you get to the ends of your hair strands. Having more than two or three hairs left in your hand after each tug is a sign you may be experiencing anagen or telogen effluvium. You should not have more than 10 hairs per 100 strands coming out.
