Thomas Markle, the father of Duchess Meghan, has furiously clapped back at her claims that he “betrayed” her in the build-up to her royal wedding…

The pregnant royal made the claims in new clips released from her CBS interview with talk show host, where she spoke about her troubled relationship with her father and the anguish she faced when he “lied” to her.

“It was… if we were going to use the word betrayal” she told Oprah.

Meghan is referring to a 2018 incident, prior to her wedding to Prince Harry, where her father is accused of staging his own paparazzi pictures.

She continued; “I said [to him]; so I just need you to tell me….And if you tell me the truth, we can help. And he wasn’t able to do that. And that for me has really resonated, especially now as a mother.

“…I look at Archie. I think about this child and I genuinely can’t imagine doing anything to intentionally cause pain to my child.”

However in an exclusive interview with Good Morning Britain, Thomas – a retired Hollywood lighting director – has rubbished hit back at Meghan’s version of events

Thomas recounted his last conversation with Meghan and Harry, of which he says took place in a hospital after his heart attack.

He told GMB hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid; “I had to tell them I couldn’t tell them I couldn’t come to the wedding….Harry said to me at that point; “If you had listened to me, this wouldn’t have happened to you”.

“Me lying in a hospital bed after having a procedure and getting a stent put here and here [points to his chest] thought that that was kind of snotty and hung up.

Thomas claimed that he was also hurt by Meghan’s words

He continued; “I’ve apologised over what happened at least a hundred times…I feel like she let me down as well…I was in the hospital bed the last time we talked, and I never heard from her again.

Asked why he continued to talk to the press, Thomas responded; “Because they’re not talking to me”.

Thomas then added that he was “left out to dry”, claiming similarly to Meghan & Harry, his family were also “attacked by the press”, and offered “no protection”.

The 76-year-old also spoke on Meghan’s claims that she felt ‘suicidal’ amoungst all the media scrutiny

“Had I known she was having psychological problems, I would have been there for her. The biggest problem is she’s pretty much ghosted all of her family, so she really had no one to reach out to…she would have had us, if she kept us.”

And he also weighed in on Meghan’s claims suggesting race is a reason behind the couple’s conflict with the Royal Family

“I don’t think the royal family are racist at all…

“This whole thing about colour and how dark the baby is, is bull****”, he added.

Despite all the drama, Thomas claims he “never stopped loving” his daughter

“I certainly love Meghan, she can be angry with me…but I’m still her dad….There must be something left here somewhere”.

Meanwhile social media users also weighed in on Thomas’s interview; while some labelled him the “worst dad in the world”, others felt sorry for him…
