Rachel Kolisi has spoken out about being told to wear make-up by campaign bosses in a bid to have a “more professional look”…

The rugby WAG and activist took to her social media page to reveal that an unknown organisation had requested she have a more made-up look to feature on one of their campaigns.

Needless to say, the mom of two was not having it, and immediately turned them down.

She wrote on Instagram; “I recently pulled myself off a campaign because the brand requested “I have a more professional look and wear make-up”

Rachel then went on to share her opinion on the matter…

Alongside a bare-faced selfie, she added; “I think girls who get up and spend time putting make-up on are beautiful! I think girls who wake up and don’t put make-up on are beautiful too!”

“In a world where, a lot of people are trying to be something they’re not, be you. We need more of that”.

The post was liked by thousands of followers, and even a few celebs responded with their own experiences.

Sue Duminy, wife of retired cricketer JP Duminy wrote; “I once had feedback from a well known brand [which] described my content as ‘creepy’…oh how much fun we could have if we name and shame businesses.”

Media personality Roxy Burger added; “I had a clause in a contract recently that said they can terminate if I had “any noticeable weight gain”. Let’s say my response was less than polite”.

Radio DJ and Idols SA host Unathi also chimed in; “Thank you for this post Rach, it’s getting out of hand to say the least”.

This week, former Miss South Africa and Miss World Rolene Strauss recounted how another famous publication suggested she wear clothes she was not comfortable during the cover shoot

“I knew that this is not who I am, this is not my brand, and that I would hurt my brand if I wear this clothing on the cover of the magazine.

Unfortunately Rolene did NOT say no to her wardrobe concerns, a decision she later regretted.

“There I was wearing the clothes I didn’t want to wear, doing the pose I didn’t want to do…this was a really horrible experience” she said.
