There is a growing market in South Africa for pre-owned clothes and baby products that are still in good condition.

Raising children does not come cheap, and it’s always good to save on some items! Whether you’re buying or selling pre-loved baby items, the money saved or money earned is always welcome.

We did some investigating into how parents can tap into the market for pre-loved kids items. Here’s what we found:

The stores below sell a range of items including clothes, toys, accessories, and big items like cots and car seats. If you can buy a pre-owned car, a pre-owned car seat does not sound like a terrible idea.

The Mom and Baby House, Cape Town

This business was birthed 25 years when new mom Annelise spent too much on baby items and was disappointed by the quality of the second-hand products she bought. She created the business to offer new moms items they need at cheaper prices. The business later started renting out items for three months. These are the short terms units that kids outgrow after a few months or quality nappy bags that moms only use for a short amount of time.
