Mom of four Jo-Ann Strauss has clapped back at her followers who criticised her over a post on her Instagram account, over what they believe portrays tandem breastfeeding…

The media personality and former Miss South Africa, who runs parenting blog modernmommy.co.za, had some stinging words to say to those who found fault with the post which featured obscured images of her two youngest daughters.

The post was shared on Jo-Ann’s personal IG account, with the caption; “Happy 4 month birthday to our littlest one! Serving milk instead of cake to celebrate”.

The post received dozens of comments with many questioning the beauty queen if she was tandem breastfeeding – the practise of nursing both a newborn and toddler.

However Jo-Ann set the record straight on the image, responding to one follower; “Not exactly – she [her toddler] just likes keeping a close eye on her sister [her newborn]”.

She also issued a stern message to her critics, warning them she would “block” them over their choice of words

She wrote; “I posted a similar picture on my @jo_annstrauss page and had a few (5 people, whom I’ve since blocked as I’m raising 4 kids and have no time for petty childishness from adults who act like kids) interesting comments from strangers who were appalled that I was seemingly tandem breastfeeding. I wasn’t, but actually, it’s no one’s business except mine and my child’s if I breastfeed my child.

“It’s also no one’s business if I don’t. We deal with enough judgement as moms in so many areas and honestly, people who take time to attack essentially strangers on social media should be stopped or blocked.

Jo-Ann also urged other moms to stop the shaming and ignore the judgment of those who do

She continued; “Dear moms, do you, be the best parent you can be and block the negativity of ignorant strangers. Easier said than done, but try”.

Finally, Jo-Ann encouraged moms to continue breastfeeding for as long as they wish.

She concluded; “As a @unicef_southafrica  ambassador, I do my best to encourage moms to breastfeed for as long as possible and that is the message I try to spread by posting these pictures”.
