29 year old Brittany Gosney has been charged with the murder of her son after she was accused of running over him with her car, and then dumping his body in a nearby river…

Six-year-old James Robert Hutchinson was reported missing on Sunday 28 February in Ohio in the US by his mother, according to a police report by the Middletown Division of Police.

Middletown police said a child had been reported missing in a Twitter post, “We have a missing 6-year-old named James. He was last seen in the area of Crawford St. He is a white male, 3′ tall, 42 lbs. He has dark blond/reddish hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a red shirt with blue and red Batman pajama pants. If you see him, call 911.”

Once the alert emerged, search and rescue teams as well as volunteers immediately began looking for the boy, a mere three hours later though, the search had ceased.

Police updated their post saying the boy had tragically been confirmed dead

“James was killed in Preble County a few days ago,” police said in their report. “The child’s body was brought back to Middletown, where the parents live, and later put into the Ohio River.”

Attempt to abandon child

According to Fox19, Brittany Gosney admitted that she had driven to a remote area to abandon James, and then ran him over him when he attempted to get back in the car.

Gosney described how “she picked the child up, put him back in the vehicle and drove back, where she took the child in the house and placed him in an upstairs bedroom,” according to the criminal complaint. Her boyfriend, James Hamilton, allegedly knew about the incident.

The boy’s body has not yet been recovered from the river, but officers are working with trained searchers in an attempt to recover the body this week.

Gosney is charged with murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence. Her boyfriend, Hamilton, is charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

The police also removed two other children from the home and placed them in protective custody.
