Baby Cele-Maloka’s character, Gabisile, came to a very abrupt end recently, signalling the actresses departure from popular soapie Uzalo…

The controversial character had many flaws, but what Cele admires about her was her dedication to her family. “What I love is that she loves her family so much and that is what I am as uBaby. Like, she would kill for her family…” Cele told The Citizen in a recent interview.

While fans may be convinced that a plot twist will bring Gabisile back, Cele revealed that she’s got some big plans for the future.

She told The Citizen that she’s wanting to expand her acting career to other roles, as well as take on some directing and film projects.

She’s already written and directed a short film with the help of Bongi Ndaba. Sadly, plans for the project were delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, but she is hoping to pick up where she left off and submit the film for consideration in various film festivals.

Cele also has a bucket list of travel plans to tick off. She and fellow actress Thembi Mtshali-Jones are keen to explore other parts of the world, as soon as borders open up.

We can’t wait to see where the future takes her – even if it’s not back to Uzalo as fans are hoping!
