First a hippo in Johannesburg, then lions on a stoep in Hoedspruit, and now a crocodile in the pool in the North West province…
On Friday morning, Angel Breytenbach from the North West Province took a quick look at her security cameras before letting her animals out of the house. Thank goodness she did!
She posted some images of a very large crocodile enjoying a pool party in her pristine swimming pool! The reptile had also taken a few nibbles out of some of their piping in the garden.
Angel wrote: “This morning… this happened, only in South Africa hey!”
The Wild Heart Wildlife Foundation brought in experts to gently remove the croc from the pool. The organisation believes that the downpours and floods that the province had received thanks to cyclone Eloise had prompted some wild animals to wander.
It’s believed the croc came to the property from a nearby river.
“He was safely removed and placed in a safe location. He will be checked out by the Dept of Nature Conservation on Monday, then released back into its natural habitat,” said a post on the organisation’s page.
