Namirembe Riding School, Gauteng â?? on the back of my horse the stresses of life slip away even if for only a brief time.
The sun is warm as it beats down on the arena and a gentle breeze rustles through the trees as I slowly amble past them. The countryside, even though it is winter, has a beauty all of its own and I gaze across the hills at the splendour that is the winter highveld. I think to myself that this has got to be the best place to be, on the back of my noble steed just walking along, cooling down from an invigorating ride.
It is a place so calming and one where I have time to collect my thoughts. Sometimes I just like to look at the countryside without thinking much, just enjoying the fresh air and the views. When I am feeling a bit sad or stressed just being on the back of my horse walking along seems to put things into perspective or at least makes the worries seem less significant.
The natural rhythmic movement of my horse walking seems to have a calming effect on my mind and body and one feels the stresses of life slip away even if for only a brief time. This is my most special place, on the back of my horse.
