Mark Ronson, 32 , Brit and Grammy award winner, was born in London, and moved to New York at the age of 8, when his parents split. His step-dad is Mick Jones, lead singer of Foreigner, and his two sisters are fashion designer Charlotte Ronson and DJ Samantha Ronson. Samantha is said to be engaged to Lindsay Lohan. Mark is friends with Sean Lennon, and his current girlfriend is the model Daisy Lowe, 19.
Ronson played guitar and drums from an early age, and started DJing in ’93 in downtown NY clubs, just before hip-hop became very commercial. He DJed at the wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, as well as at Sean â??P. Diddyâ? Combsâ?? legendary 29th birthday party. Ronson DJâ??s most Fridays on his east village radio show and has DJed at YoYo in London for many years. It was at Yo Yo that he first met Lily Allen, and Amy Winehouse.
Ronsonâ??s debut Album, Here Comes the Fuzz (2003) featured guest artists Sean Paul, Mos Def, Jack White of the The White Stripes, and Rivers Cuomo of Weezer.
During 2007 Ronson produced tracks on new albums by Christina Aguilera, Robbie Williams, Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse, Rhymefest, and Domino, to name a few. He has also produced for the likes of Jay-Z and Outkast. His cover of the Smiths’ “Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before,” featuring R&B vocalist Daniel Merriweather was a Number Two hit in the U.K. He also re-mixed the Bob Dylan song â??Most Likely Youâ??ll Go Your Way (And Iâ??ll Go Mine)â? in promotion for the three disc Bob Dylan set, â??DYLANâ? .
His second album, Version(2007,) is a collection of Motown/Stax-type covers of Billboard top-10 pop songs. These include Radiohead’s “Justâ?, Britney Spearsâ?? â??Toxicâ?, The Jamâ??s â??Pretty Greenâ??, Coldplayâ??s â??God Put A Smile Upon Your Faceâ?, Lily Allen singing the Kaiser Chiefs’ “Oh My God” “, Amy Winehouseâ??s cover of Zutonsâ?? â??Valerieâ?, and Robbie Williams singing the Charlatans’ “The Only One I Know.”
Mark was featured, along with other sons and daughters of celebrities, in a 1997 Tommy Hilfiger fashion campaign, and is currently the face of DKNY. His own personal dress sense has been described as Beatnik.
