Hailing from Jacksonville, Florida, The Black Kids consist of Reggie Youngblood, 28, on guitar and lead vocals,  Ali Youngblood, 24, and Dawn Watley, 23, on keyboards and backing vocals, Owen Holmes, 26, on bass, and Kevin Snow, 28, on drums. Reggie and Ali, brother and sister, met the other three members of the band at Sunday-school when young. Black Kids was formed in 2006, and in 2007 they posted a 4-song EP, “”Wizard of Ahhhs”” on their myspace page (www.myspace.com/blackkidsrock).

Combine a bit of pop and new wave and you get this synth-laden style, which brings to mind the likes of the upbeat songs of The Cure. Their signature tune is “”I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You””.

Album release and Festivals

Officially released in July, their debut album, Partie Traumatic, was recorded with former Suede guitarist, Bernard Butler. Their third tour of the UK this year sold out. Black Kids will be performing at Glastonbury, Wakestock, Wireless, Oxygen and T In the Park.
