On Thursday social media was mourning yet another Covid-19 tragedy. Mzwandile Nzimande, the co-founder of streetwear brand, Loxion Kulca, has died aged 44…

Nzimande was also a DJ at KayaFM radio station.

The family released a statement confirming his death.

“It is with profound grief and sadness that we confirm the passing of our husband, brother, father and son, Mzwandile Nzimande,” said the statement. According to the family, Nzimande was admitted to the Olivedale Clinic in Johannesburg after being diagnosed with Covid-19. He died on Wednesday, 13 January at 9AM.

“Mzwandile was affectionately known by most as DJ1D. He was the co-founder of popular streetwear and lifestyle brand Loxion Kulca. He was known to all as a true friend and brother.”

“He always offered support, smiles and a hearty warming laugh to encourage those around him. His love for his family, work and community is evident. Everything he put his mind to, he achieved with greatness and grace.”

The family requested that fans and friends keep them in their prayers.

“We are deeply thankful for all the messages of love and support so far, they are felt and appreciated.”

They will release details of a live stream for his funeral in the near future.
