“House Kolisi survived Covid. Which is not something any of us take lightly,” Rachel Kolisi posted on Instagram this weekend…
Many followers were happy to hear the good news, after Rachel and two of her children contracted the virus. Rachel said her three year old did not exhibit any symptoms but her thirteen year old and Rachel suffered many of the most common symptoms.
Thankfully none of them had to be hospitalised.
“So many people have loved ones fighting for their lives or have lost loved ones to this virus. My DMs have been flooded with people who have tested positive and immediately are flooded with anxiety,” said Rachel. “I also received tons of messages from healthcare workers sharing their utter exhaustion and daily trauma experiences.”
She was encouraged by all of the positive messages and advice that people shared on her posts, and how South Africans encouraged each other. “More of this please, in general,” she requested!
Still not over the symptoms
While the family are now Covid negative, Rachel is still recovering from some of the symptoms. She says she’s still fatigued and struggling to focus, and her sense of taste and smell hasn’t yet returned fully.
She shared with her followers that she’s found benefit in Ozone therapy which helps fill the body with oxygen, and she’s also had IV treatments to boost her vitamins and minerals. She hasn’t yet started exercising but hopes to be back in the gym next week.
Rachel asked healthcare workers how she and her followers could best support them, and she encouraged those who have battled, or are battling the virus to share their experiences.
“Isolated, but not alone,” she said. Encouraging South Africans to stand together against the deadly virus.
