Sho Madjozi is set to become the latest musician to make a cameo on SABC 2’s Muvhango and she couldn’t be more excited!

We know her as a rapper, a poet, a basketball superfan, an academic and now Sho Madjozi can add “actress” to her rather impressive list of titles. This comes after news broke over the weekend that the Huku star is about to make her acting debut in the form of a cameo on SABC 2’s Venda-based soapie, Muvhango.

Sho Madjozi ready to act on Muvhango

It’s always exciting when a musician makes a cameo appearance on one of our favourite soapies and the mood ahead of Sho Madjozi’s Muvhango debut is electric. She follows in the footsteps of fellow Limpopo-born musicians such as Makhadzi, who also made a guest appearance on the popular Venda-based soapie last year.

According to information obtained from Word of Mouth pictures, the production company behind Muvhango, Sho Madjozi (whose real name is Maya Wengerif) will be appearing as herself in an episode which airs on the 14th of January.

In the episode, Sho Madjozi will reportedly “cause a stir” (something which fellow character, Teboho will be hoping for!) before she performs her brand new song Shahumba for the first time.

Mandla KaNozulu, the CEO of Word of Mouth pictures, expressed his excitement at the prospect of Sho Madjozi featuring on the show when he said, to The Citizen, “We are happy that the talented singer graced the show with her musical presence. We hope her performance will be a memorable one for the viewers.”

Why Muvhango was trending all weekend

Sho Madjozi’s upcoming cameo is just one reason why people have been talking about Muvhango in the last few days. Those on social media will have noticed that the soapie was trending for much of this past weekend thanks to another new addition to their cast.

Fresh-faced actor, Tebogo Thobejane joined the roster and social media fans wasted no time in showing her admiration.

It looks as if a number of young and unfamiliar faces will be joining the show’s roster as Muvhango aims to “open up the industry.” Their show producer, Herbert Hadebe confirmed their intentions when he said, ”  2021 will also mark the debut of several fresh-faced newbies, hoping to carve a niche for themselves in the industry. We want Muvhango to be a platform of endless opportunity for young and ambitious actors,”.

With young, new names debuting alongside A-list musicians like Sho Madjozi, you can be certain that Muvhango is going to kick off 2021 on an exciting and vibrant note!
