Sarah Langa has spoken about her split from Jehan Mackay for the very first time and it doesn’t sound like the influencer is having an easy time.
Anybody who has ever undergone a divorce will tell you that the process is never an easy one. Whether there is a family to consider, or it’s simply the premature ending of a relationship, ending a marriage is a difficult life event that we wouldn’t wish upon anyone – but like certain things in life, sometimes it simply can’t be avoided.
One person who has felt the weight of a difficult divorce is super influencer, Sarah Langa. The GH Mumm ambassador has recently spoken about her own difficult split for the first time this week.
Sarah Langa opens up
We first learned about Sarah Langa’s divorce from Jehan Mackay in March 2020 when Sunday World went public with a report that alleged that the popular influencer had been “dumped” by her husband. The publication claimed that the two had split due to her social media “obsession”, adding that Jehan felt as if they weren’t spending enough quality time due to her omnipresence on social media.
The divorce summons, which Jehan sent to Sarah, allegedly read, “The marriage relationship between the parties has reached such a state of disintegration that there is no reasonable prospect of their marriage being restored and their marriage has accordingly irretrievably broken down in that the parties are incompatible and share no common interests,”
Since then, Sarah has maintained her silence around the reports of a divorce but all that changed this week when she finally confirmed that a split was in the works.
Advice to a fan: “Never stay in a toxic marriage”
During an Instagram QnA, one fan asked for her thoughts on divorce and she was candid when she replied,
“Divorce is not easy, it feels like losing a best friend. It’s like mourning a best friend’s death to you but also witnessing that same friend’s life through a window without you. The world punishes women for divorces and there’s still so much stigma attached to being a divorcee, you lose all your married friends, there’s
“his constant unwanted pity that follows you everywhere you co, the feeling of being alone sucks and not to mention the men that have been waiting on the side-lines for the opportunity to take advantage to prey on your vulnerability.
“My advice is to never stay in a toxic marriage but when you walk away do it privately and secure your support structure to protect yourself from the above.
“Once you have dealt with the challenges and accepted the divorce open yourself up to your new amazing new life and leave the past behind.”
Lessons learned for Sarah Langa?
As difficult as that divorce might have been, it looks as if Sarah Langa has learned plenty from her unsuccessful marriage. Speaking to fans, she admitted that she did still believe in marriage and would certainly consider remarrying.
She did, however, share some very important lessons about marriage and dating – a key one being that respect could not be negotiated or compromised on. She wrote in a separate answer, “Paying the bills does not excuse you from treating a lady with respect. Don’t think you are more of a man when all you do is take care of the financial responsibilities but back home, you’re physically, emotionally or sexually abusive.”
