Looking for a body wash and lotion to protect your little one’s skin against the harsh environment? Living and Loving’s copy editor Marianne McDonald, who is mom to baby Landon, tried the recently launched Cetaphil Baby range. Here’s what she thought of it…
I’m always on the look-out for baby products that don’t contain any nasties and are suitable for my baby’s sensitive skin, so I loved the fact that the Cetaphil Baby range is hypoallergenic and soap free.
My son Landon definitely got his dad’s fair Scottish skin, and suffers from heat rash and reacts to everything, from washing powders to creams and cleansers. On the other hand, I have a thing about odours and anything that smells synthetic results in an immediate gag reaction – a remnant of my pregnancy symptoms that haven’t dissipated.
Landon is now eight months old, and we have been bathing him before bed every night for the past six months. He loves it and can sit in the bath for 30 to 45 minutes, which means that I need something nourishing and gentle to prevent his skin from drying out.
When I was given Cetaphil Baby to try, I was looking forward to something new at bath time. The scent of the baby wash is pleasant, fresh and subtle. Landon enjoyed a massage with the wash and his skin was soft and glowing after bathing. The body lotion had a stronger fragrance and lingered in his bedroom longer than I would have liked. It did work like magic on his skin that was dry thanks to the Johannesburg winter. After just three days, his skin showed a marked improvement.
The Cetaphil Baby range, which includes Baby Gentle Wash and Shampoo and Baby Daily Lotion, is available at Dis-Chem, Clicks and Alpha Pharm.
