  • Anxiety makes labour more difficult, as it raises adrenaline and cortisol levels in the bloodstream, suppressing the hormones that make labour easier and reduce pain naturally. Consider using the services of a dedicated private midwife who’ll be with you throughout labour, supporting you every step of the way without shift-end changes and the disruption they bring on an emotional and mental level. Most private midwives work closely with an obstetrician who they’ll call if there is a need for medical intervention. This offers an extremely safe, caring and wonderful birthing experience.
