We are gearing up for a New years eve celebration like no other. While we can’t buy alcohol, attend public firework displays, and with grim weather reports host small family braais we do have a lot to celebrate
We’re planning a safe and delicious New Years Eve celebration for a family of 4 at home to bid 2020 farewell in culinary style.
Drinks on tap
A New Years Eve without alcohol we can live with but is it really New Year’s Eve without bubbles?
Try these festive sparkling mocktails through the evening with no risk of a hangover.
Cointreau & Pomegranate Fizz recipe
Turn these delicious mocktails into cocktails with a dash of your favourite spirits if you have any hidden away, but remember to drink responsibly and keep it safe.
Start with starters
New Year’s Eve dinner isn’t just any other dinner; it’s the last dinner of the year and calls for pulling out all the stops.
Make it special from the start with starters or appetisers.
Get fancy with these salmon and caviar canapes for a black-tie evening with the family.
Or dress it down with spicy chicken sausage rolls the kids will love too.
The main course
South Africans have been dealt a double blow this year. Festivities are now something we limit to our households as booze-free events and our traditional braai celebrations being made difficult by the weather.
Bring things inside with the next best thing, a roast or grill. In the braai spirit, keep things casual and include your favourite braai sides and trimmings too.
Make a varied spread by including smaller portions of different types of meat, veggies and cheese to cater to everyone’s tastes.
Don’t count chicken out. Aside from being favoured as a healthier meat option, it also a delicious family favourite.
One pan roast chicken with a twist – Delicious recipe from Zola Nene!
End it off on a sweet note
NYE might not be known for its sweet treats, but as the way we celebrate changes, a sweet end to the night might be just what we need.
Go absolutely nuts with the rich and creamy peanut butter mousse cake. It’s a delicious treat for all ages. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for added decadents.
Keep thing light and healthy with a Mango icecream that is hardly any work at all. Add other fruits like pineapple and coconut to give your icecream the full tropical treatment.
