A Turkish man has been arrested for keeping his wife in an horrific torture chamber just one month after she gave birth…

She was reportedly subjected her to days of unending abuse including having her fingernails pulled out with pliers.

Ilyas Arik, 28, was furious when his wife ran away after a savage beating 15 days earlier, so he reportedly built the torture chamber and then told her that if she did not come back, she would never see their 40-day-old baby daughter again.

Syrian-born Mirvet Nivej, 28, then agreed to return but when she did, he allegedly tied her up in the torture chamber on the roof of their home in the south-eastern Turkish city of Urfa and proceeded to torture her.

He has since been arrested and an indictment has been prepared by prosecutors demanding imprisonment of up to 34 years.

According to the news source DHA, Mirvet Nivej was subjected to days of violence after being tied to a chair, beaten with sticks, and having her fingernails pulled out by pliers.

One of the people the suspect shared pictures with was a work colleague and the victim’s supervisor where he wrote: “Look how bad I beat this woman.”

It is unclear why he shared the pictures, but the supervisor forwarded the image to the police and filed a complaint.

When the torturer realised the police were on their way, he threw the victim out onto the street and went on the run 7 October, 2020.

However, he was later caught and arrested and is currently being held in custody.

The indictment against Ilyas Arik was reportedly accepted by the Criminal Court of First Instance.

The indictment said that chains, screwdrivers, pliers, keys, and sticks were as weapons used during the alleged torture.

Meanwhile, the victim remains in hospital while her baby is being cared for by social services.

The investigation continues.
