Somizi Mhlongo released his second ever book this month: a cookbook titled Dinner at Somizi’s and he launched it at a beautiful event in Houghton on Thursday night.
Everybody who is anybody in the South African entertainment industry was invited to Houghton Estate, Johannesburg for an unforgettable evening. Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung was the host and fine dining was on the cards as the industry joined to celebrate the launch of his first-ever cookbook titled Dinner at Somizi’s: I am not a Chef.
I am not a chef!
Somizi might not describe himself as a chef, but he certainly knows a thing or two about hosting a dinner party. Fans have been treated to his lavish brand of catering through his reality show, Dinner at Somizi’s and it was this concept that inspired his first ever recipe book, (but his second literary offering, after his autobiography Dominoes, Unbreakable spirit.)
On Thursday, guests were treated to a multi-course meal when they arrived at the official launch which was sponsored by Tastic. One of the most eye-catching moments of the entire launch came when a giant mural of Somizi’s late mother, Mam’ Mary Twala was unveiled before all of the guests.
The book itself is already proving to be a hit. According to stakeholders, once it released last week it nearly crashed CNA’s systems – such was the volume of orders that came in.
Celebrity guests and Mohale all come to support Somizi
Somizi’s launch was celebrated by some of the biggest names in South African entertainment including Kwa Mam’Khize star Shauwn Mkhize, Lorna Maseko, Vusi Nova, Jessica Nkosi and of course Somizi’s hubby, Mohale Motaung.
Speaking of the latter, the two appeared to be on very good terms despite rumours that were swirling around their relationship not too long ago. It had previously been reported that there was trouble in paradise for Somizi and Mohale after a Sunday paper alleged that the two had separated. Not only has Somizi refuted these claims, but the lovers have held a united front ever since then just proving how false the rumours were.
Will you be buying a copy of Somizi’s new cookbook?
