It’s been 25 years since “that” bombshell interview between Princess Diana and BBC’s Martin Bashir…
But even though it’s a quarter of a century later, Diana’s loved ones are still seeking answers as to how she was ‘coerced’ into revealing a number of personal details about the deterioration of her marriage to Prince Charles.
Why is it all being brought to the surface again?
A Channel 4 documentary was recently released detailing how Bashir managed to secure the story.
The documentary brought a number of issues to the surface, and even prompted Princess Diana’s brother. Charles Spencer to contact the BBC. He demanded an apology and another investigation into the matter.
The BBC has heard the calls for clarity, and announced a new, independent investigation, would take place. According to reports, it will be led by Lord Dyson – a former British judge and barrister.
Prince William speaks out
In a statement released via Kensington Palace, Prince William said the investigation was a “step in the right direction.”
” It should help establish the truth behind the actions that led to the Panorama interview and subsequent decisions taken by those in the BBC at the time,” said the statement.
